Diarmaid Doherty: A Strong, Independent Voice for Donegal
A proud Donegal man, Diarmaid lives in Bundoran where he runs a number of successful businesses, providing employment and supporting other local businesses on a daily basis.
“When people support one another, there’s no limit to what we can do.”
Raising a family in beautiful Bundoran has been a motivating factor behind Diarmaid’s involvement in community activities and activism. His wife, Jill works for Donegal Library Services and has been a familiar and friendly face to library patrons of Bundoran, Ballyshannon & Donegal Town for many years. Their 4 children and 2 grandchildren are all involved in a variety of sporting, community and social groups, hence Diarmaid is acutely aware of the importance of providing a variety of outlets and opportunities for all our young people.
Diarmaid has been a mainstay of Realt Na Mara GAA for 20 years. He is the current Chairman of Bundoran LGFA, previously Chairman of Bundoran Bord na nOg for 6 years, current Manager of the ladies U18 team and Bundoran Senior Ladies’ loudest supporter – supporting his daughter and her team-mates at every training session and game.
Why Vote No.1 Doherty?
Always an advocate of local and community development, Diarmaid believes we are all stronger together. Hence his desire to serve as a member of Donegal County Council and put forward a strong, unifying voice for the people of South Donegal.
Diarmaid has previously served the people of Bundoran as a member of their Urban District Council. Even though the town council is no more, Diarmaid is still many residents’ first port of call if they have any issues. Always on the end of the phone and willing to help, Diarmaid’s business acumen, knowledge of local council services and genuine desire to help mean Diarmaid encompasses the ideal values needed to represent the people of South Donegal.
